Workspace AI chat
Document Blueprint has a built-in AI you drive in plain language: it configures the app (templates, automations) and runs your work (cases, bulk actions, field placement) by calling tools, not by improvising.
Click Open AI Assistant in the navigation bar to toggle a resizable drawer on the right. The chat acts on the same data and rules as the rest of the app. Your privileges and plan limits apply here.
Chat context and history
When a case is open, the chat knows which one you view. Say add a note to this case without copying the identifier. Naming a different case by its identifier overrides the open one. On mobile, the case and chat are separate full-screen views. The chat remembers the case you came from.
Click Chat history to view past conversations. The drawer groups chats by date, like Today, Previous 7 days, Previous 30 days, and Older. Scroll down to find the Load more button. You search past chats by title. Click a chat to reopen it, the trash icon to delete it, or the back arrow to return. Click New chat to start a fresh conversation.
Select Chat model to change the conversational model. This does not change field-placement accuracy. For extraction and autofill, use the AI model setting in Settings > Preferences.
While the app streams an answer, the send icon becomes Stop generating. Stopping saves the partial reply and keeps completed actions. Closing the drawer does not stop an in-progress answer.
Cases and bulk actions
The chat searches cases by address, identifier, or any field. You ask it to find the five closest cases. It opens cases, updates fields, adds notes, sets reminders, and moves cases between mailboxes.
You upload a roster spreadsheet to fill a form template once per row. The chat handles up to 200 forms at once, from a list file up to 15 MB. A list with very long cells can be refused below that size, so split it and import it in parts. Cells in a CSV import as the text they hold, so dates and leading zeros stay as typed.
You create, update, or delete filter presets. Describe the condition in plain words. The chat builds the clauses and reports the matching case count.
Most commands delegate to your workspace actions. Reminders, business memory, automation configuration, and roster orchestration are native to chat. Restricted teammates access only their allowed workspaces and cases. Editing templates or adding collaborators requires the workspace admin privilege. Case edits leave a timeline trail, send notifications, and trigger invite emails.
Automations and email drafts
The chat lists, creates, pauses, updates, or deletes automations. It diagnoses ingestion failures. Deleting an automation previews the change and waits for your confirmation.
To draft emails, ask the chat. It opens the send composer preloaded with explicit cases. You review the content and click Open Gmail Draft. The chat does not send email.
The chat searches the help center to answer questions about the app.
Files and the chat
Click Attach files or drop files into the drawer. The plus menu offers Attach files, New cases from a list, and New case. The two case creation actions require a Pro or Scale plan.
The chat reads PDF text. It finds templates that match a file, attaches files, and runs a template on a case file. The app does not read PDFs, images, or audio over 8 MB inline, and one message carries at most 10 attachments totaling 16 MB. You can have up to three chat responses in progress at once. Word documents and spreadsheets over 10 MB are refused, and a spreadsheet is read up to 500 rows and 50 columns. Text the chat reads out of a document is treated as content to answer about, never as an instruction to follow.
With a case open, dropped files go to that case. Confident matches receive a category automatically. Unmatched files are left uncategorized. You tell the chat to correct a file category.
With no case open, a PDF is just an attachment. It does not import automatically. You must ask the chat to create a case and attach it. You ask for a template from the PDFs to build one.
Spreadsheets and Word files are checked for a roster shape first. If they fit, the roster drop finishes. The remaining files enter the import lane.
Saving business memory
Tell the chat a business rule. Say always use our Brooklyn office address. It saves this fact for future chats under the Memory tab. Only a workspace admin can save or delete shared business memory.
Answering template questions
Some templates use a Form field input source. Click Answer with chat under the form in the Documents console. The chat reads the questions and skips the answered ones. It asks for the rest in one message. The card shows up to 12 unanswered questions at once.
Answer one by one or all at once. The chat writes confirmed answers to the case, then generates the document. It does not ask for existing values. It refuses to generate while a required answer is blank.
You start directly by naming the template and case. Say fill out the affidavit for EQ25998. Name the template so the chat picks the correct one.
Placing fields visually
Provide a name, a value source, and the printed label on the form. The source can be typed per case, a fixed Static value, or Extracted from documents.
The chat drafts the placements and reports where they landed. You must confirm before it applies the draft. Say move the Address one line lower to re-place that specific field without losing configured values.
Building templates from examples
To build a template from an example, drop exactly two PDFs into the chat. You need a blank form and a filled-out copy. Documents over 60 pages are terminally refused. Ask for a template.
The app identifies the blank PDF automatically. The order you attach them does not matter. It finds filled spots, names fields from nearby printed labels, and creates Write zones.
The chat reports which fields it made and which placements need review. It uses the standard example-configuration flow, matching the editor page cap and accuracy. It saves the template immediately.
Unusable pairs create no document source, category, or half-built template. Pairs fail for identical content, mismatched page counts or sizes, built-in fields, or files over 12 MB. Click Try again to resume from saved progress instead of starting over.
